Dr. Wei Li received the Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering in June, 2020, from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), China. He is currently working as an Associate Professor in School of Mechanical Engineering, Hefei University of Technology (HFUT), China. From 2020 to 2023, he worked with Chongqing University (CQU), China. Dr. Li's research focuses on application of intelligent optimization and machine learning methods in design and manufacturing, including multidisciplinary aspects of energy storage system with focus on safety (mechanical and thermal design), surrogate-assisted design optimization, risk, robust, and reliability design optimization, and low-carbon design. He has presided over five projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Chongqing Science Foundation Program, and the Innovation Program of Huazhong University of Science and Technology.

In the past five years, Dr. Li has published over 70 peer-reviewed papers, including Engineering, Advanced Engineering Informatics, Engineering With Computers, Applied Thermal Engineering, Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization, Energy, Electrochimica Acta, Journal of Energy Storage, IEEE Transactions on Transportation Electrification, IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering, Case Studies in Thermal Engineering, Engineering Optimization, ASME Journal of Mechanical Design, ASME Journal of Electrochemical Energy Conversion and Storage, ASME Journal of Thermal Science and Engineering Applications, ASME Journal of Computing and Information Science in Engineering.

Dr. Li is a Senior member of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society (since 2020) and a Member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (since 2018). He has served as a Guest Editor or Editorial Board member of multiple journals, including International Journal of Green Energy, Batteries, Frontiers in Mechanical Engineering, and Frontiers in Energy Research.
