ZHENG Yarong, earned his bachelor's degree from Hefei University of Technology in 2010 and his doctoral degree from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2015. He conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Science and Technology of China from 2015 to 2018. After that, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Surface Physics and Catalysis group with Prof. Ib Chokorkendorff  at the Technical University of Denmark from 2018 to 2021.

ZHENG Yarong was employed at the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering in 2021, he is currently the Director of the Department of Chemistry, and PhD and master’s supervisor in Chemistry at Hefei University of Technology. His main research interests include the development of new energy materials, surface/interfacial catalysis, and electrochemical reaction mechanisms. The activities are broadened to include various aspects of energy technologies related to energy conversion, such as water splitting for hydrogen production and fuel cells.

ZHENG Yarong has managed several large research programs involving various groups from both academia and industry, like the National Social Science Fund and the National Power Grid Program. He has published over 40 scientific papers in high-impact international refereed journals, including Nat. Energy, Nat. Commun., Adv. Mater., and so on, which are cited > 9000 times, an H-index of 36. He received several awards, including the Huangshan Scholars Outstanding Youth in 2021 and the Overseas High-level Young Talents of Anhui Province in 2023.
