Xianwei Meng is a Professor and Vice Dean of the School of Computer and Information at Hefei University of Technology (HFUT). He is a recipient of the National High-Level Leading Talent in Science and Technology Innovation. His current research focuses on Quantum Foundations, Observational Geometry, Physical and Observation Dual-Axis (PODA) Theory, and Phase Transport. He proposed the PODA axiom, the M-Event fingerprint constant, and the basic phase-transport equation as a unified mathematical framework to address long-standing quantum foundational problems.
Research Overview
PODA Theory and Categorical Foundations
Meng's recent work utilizes category theory (including Cartesian closure, fibrations, and behavioral equivalence) to establish the observation state as an irreducible, objective axis. By proving the non-existence of a global decoding function F≠h∘prX this framework mathematically demonstrates that physical laws cannot depend solely on the physical state x. This provides a geometric account of wave-function collapse as a conditional transition and decoherence as a coupling between the physical and observation axes.
Unification of Quantum Axioms
Within the PODA framework, the complex field, the Schrödinger equation, and the Born rule are derived as geometric corollaries of the dual-axis structure, rather than independent axioms. The framework also offers an alternative interpretation of Bell violation as the absence of a positive global answer section across incompatible observation states.
M-Event Fingerprint Constant and Phase Transport
To connect theory with experiment, Meng proposed a table-top experiment predicting a parameter-free geometric phase of 2.1991 radians (the M-Event fingerprint constant), which distinguishes the dual-axis mechanism from standard quantum mechanics (which predicts zero). His basic phase-transport equation connects spectral gaps, local information loss (via Fisher information), and Hamiltonian reconstruction in quantum systems.
Professional Background
Prior to joining HFUT in 2026, Meng served as Director and Researcher at the Institute of Intelligent Machines, Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences (2021–2026). From 2006 to 2021, he held senior engineering leadership roles at Sichuan Electronic Technology Co., Ltd., including General Manager of the Beidou Navigation and Products Division. He holds a doctorate from the University of Science and Technology of China. He is a recipient of the Anhui Provincial Science and Technology Progress First Prize (2019) and the National Surveying and Mapping Science and Technology Award (2021).
